Many of us wonder, when is the Afghanistan war going to end? Hasn’t it been a long time already? Shouldn’t it be coming to an end?

According to the Defense Secretary Robert Gates, the war has just begun. The American support towards the war declines and Robert Gates says that he disagrees with those that think it is time to end the war. Robert Gates believes that they have not lost control over the war and understands those who don’t support the war anymore. Robert Gates said, "The nation has been at war for eight years. The fact that Americans would be tired of having their sons and daughters at risk and in battle is not surprising." I also don’t think that it is not surprising, but what I do find surprising is that Gates says that the war is just beginning. It has been 8-years since the war has begun and to say that it has just begun, it’s crazy. Instead of sending more troops to war the money should be used to help out students. The war is one of those factors that are making this economy worst! Because it is so hard for students to pay off college many are going to war because it is their last option for them to try to get money for college if their parents are not able to pay it off but in doing so, they are putting their lives at risk. Although Robert Gates says the war is just beginning, hopefully it will end soon!

  1. It's extremely crazy how people can actually say that the war has just began when so many troops and innocent people have died as a result of this war. I think that one of the nation's main priority right now should be the Iraq war because American soldiers have been fighting in this war for so long already and it's time for the Iraq government to regain control of their nation once again. It is also important to resolve this issue because as you said, this war is definately making the economy worst than it already is and the money should be put to use into something that mostly everyone will benefit from. The Obama administration is already working on a plan to withdraw troops and it will hopefully come soon because troops have been fighting in this war for too long.

  3. American interference in Iraq’s domestic affairs was and still remains to be very a controversial issue. At first the Bush Administration sought to intervene in an effort to avoid any future terrorist attacks against the United States after the terrible September 11 tragedy in 2001. After alleged claims they barged into Iraq claiming they had “large” quantities of weapons of mass destruction, for the sake of American democracy. However, after mild success, troops remained in Iraq ‘reforming’ its government as they restored order and transform it into ‘suitable’ country capable of governing itself. Now the question is: are U.S. troops longer necessary in Iraq?! Of course not, for as we fight for democracy in another country we loose the democracy in our country. So now America lets clean up our own house, before we go volunteer to clean someone else’s, because truth is we can no longer afford loosing American lives and money when our own country is not even stable itself.
